Surviving December

Forward motion and free will,
neither is easy in December
when early chill seeps in.

At the intersection
of dumb luck
and disaster,

bright stars, white light,
holy, still
but for the swirling snow.

We dress in layers,
put one foot
before the other,

decorate the tree
and sing carols;
We are born believing in Spring.

  1. So beautiful, Sarah. A touch of cynicism but hope sets its tone. “We dress in layers” … such a simple line, but so profound. Blessings to you and yours this holiday time and for the New Year and far beyond. Diane XO ❤

    1. Thank you for your beautiful comment on my “Angel Within” post that shared the prayer for a more non-violent world, Sarah. I would love to send you a copy of my “The Snow White Gift” story. It is a kindle publication. I would just need your email, which you could send to If you don’t have a kindle device, you can download an app in order to read it. Let me know. Love and hugs, Diane
