This Patient Morning

Song birds
voice summer
on this gray morning.

Apparently unaware
of the misery of wet feathers
and rain soaked sidewalks,

wrens and finches
go about their business of praise.
Disciples all, they know

the gift of gratitude
and the wisdom of waiting.
I watch, beholden for the learning

that lifts me up
as I wait for the sun
on this patient morning.

  1. Hi Tidal,

The rain is in a lull at this moment. Those wrens and plovers are still singing..The sparrows
keep bankers hours here but they, too, have joined in ( since about 10 a.m.) It has turned out
to be a pretty good day.
